Fair trade is getting better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. By requiring companies to pay sustainable prices, Fairtrade addresses the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminates against the poorest, weakest producers. It enables them to improve their position and have more control over their lives. The best part is that most of the items are organic and contain vegetable dyes and other health conscious products. While there are cafes and airlines getting on board with fair trade tea, coffee and chocolates as are many other organisations including Cadbury, there are many other great quality items around including homewares, toys, clothes, accessories, cleaning and personal products which are generally better for our well-being.
